The first class of full-time MBA students will start at Moscow School of Management Skolkovo in January 2009. Bankrolled to the tune of half a billion dollars, in part by Russian business luminaries such as Roman Abramovich and Leonid Mikhelson, the idea for a Russia-based international business school was conceived three years ago, before the world financial crisis.

Wilfired Vanhonacker, one of three Deans of the school, is the man who set up the China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in Beijing 15 years ago. CEIBS is now Asia's top business school and the first in the region to break into the worldwide top ten.
