Lloyd's Banking Group, the UK's biggest banking group by market share, is looking for MBAs to join its Future Executives Programme. We caught up with David Hindle, Senior Talent Manager within Group HR at Lloyds, to find out more about the opportunities open to MBAs on this two-year programme.

With opportunities in every business area, a generous rewards package and roles for both MBAs with finance experience and those with non-banking experience, this is one of the biggest and most diverse MBA programmes around. Read on for tips on how to apply...

What makes Lloyds a good place to work?
With 30 million customers across the country, Lloyds Banking Group is the UK's largest financial institution. A third of the people in the UK have a relationship with us or our many iconic high-street brands.

Outside the UK, we have a global banking business with a presence in over 30 countries. And wherever we are, we are committed to developing local communities and put our customers at the heart of everything we do - an approach that is helping us move ever-closer to our aim of becoming the best bank for customers.

What all of this means is that we offer the scale, scope and sheer diversity of opportunity to enable you to fulfil your personal ambition and future potential. With our full support, you will have every opportunity to build your career and become one of the senior leaders that will help us deliver our business strategy in the future.

How many people do you expect to hire on your Future Executives Scheme this year?
We will be hiring around 25 MBA-qualified professionals in October 2012. The Future Executives Programme has been designed specifically for hiring and developing MBA graduates.

What kind of roles do you hire MBAs for?
Our Future Executives Programme is designed to turn exceptionally talented, ambitious and experienced business professionals into world-class leaders who can make an impact at the heart of our business.

Individuals will join a two-year rotational programme where they can expect to further broaden their leaderships skills and genuinely build a great career across the group. Through these two rotational placements, each one lasting a year, individuals will develop a deep understanding of how we operate as a Group. They will get to see the challenges we face and, perhaps most importantly, develop the skills to become an invaluable executive for the future.

The group-wide rotations will focus on either; operational leadership, commercial management, change management or strategy, providing an opportunity to make an immediate impact, build internal relationships and networks as well as start to define a clear career path with Lloyds Banking Group once you roll off the programme.

In addition, we are also running a dedicated Finance programme aimed at developing future leaders specifically within our Group Finance function (backgrounds should include both an MBA and experience within a Finance role).

Across both the Group-wide and Group Finance MBA programmes, there will also be a fascinating blend of formal and on-the-job learning throughout your two years.

You will be challenged to develop your personal and professional skills and the series of job rotations will ensure that you build up the broad perspective you need to thrive in a business as diverse as Lloyds Banking Group.

Which cities are you hiring in?
Roles will be throughout the UK.

What kind of skills and backgrounds are you looking for?
We are looking for individuals with real leadership potential, the ability to motivate and support others and with a real passion for our organisation. Whilst we are looking for experienced hires, we are very open to applications from all backgrounds, including people with non-banking experience.

What business schools and universities do you recruit from?
We will be recruiting from all AMBA accredited business schools.

What's the recruitment process?
The stages you will go through are:
• Online application
• Online psychometric ability testings
• Competency based interview
• Final stage half day assessment

What's the most exciting thing happening at the company in 2012?
Our Partnership with the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games is very exciting. Our vision for our Partnership with London 2012 is to inspire and support young people, communities and businesses all over Britain on their journey to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.

In Scotland we activate our Partnership under the Bank of Scotland brand. Scottish Widows also have the rights to use our London 2012 marks. All Lloyds Banking Group colleagues have the opportunity to benefit and get involved in our Partnership.

Are there any perks / benefits of working at Lloyds?
Our total reward package very attractive. This includes a competitive base salary; performance-related bonus; up to 30 days’ paid annual leave plus public holidays; an award-winning pension scheme; private medical insurance; life assurance as well as other perks of working for a major financial group such as ourselves.

Ultimately though, the sheer scope for career development and advancement is what really sets our organisation and our programme apart.

Any dos and don'ts for people applying to the Scheme?
None really. If you are interested in building a stretching career within a FTSE 10 organisation where there is the breadth of opportunity in terms of career growth and personal development and you have an MBA qualification then DO apply!!

Interesting article thank you David. I'm from the US and didn't realise that Lloyds was such a big bank in the UK. I'm interested is this program exclusively for people with an MBA?
