We welcomed the usual array of b-school hopefuls to our MBA applicant drinks last night, running the gamut from a marketing agency head, to an airline exec to a luxury label fashionista.
The fashionista in question, a Christian Dior senior sales person, arrived in London from Prague one year ago. She was keen on an MBA or Masters program that would propel her career in the luxury goods industry. However, the cost of many of the programs in the UK had come as a surprise.
One lawyer, who headed legal and compliance at a small trading firm, but wanted to switch out of law, wondered if he should do an MBA or just bite the bullet and use the cash to set up his own business.
An entrepreneur from the education sector was planning to sell his London-based business after seven years and head to business school in either Hong Kong or India. His plan was to scope out new business opportunities in these fast-growing markets and, ideally, go more global with his second enterprise.

One recent graduate of Cass Business school’s part-time MSc in Finance and Investment praised the school’s careers services which, she said, helped her find a financial accounting role at Russian firm Gazprom while she was still studying.
