A Nobel Prize winning Economist has joined the faculty of Italy’s SDA Bocconi School of Management.

Michael Spence, who, together with George Akerlof and Joseph Stiglitz won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 2001 for their analysis of markets with asymmetric information, will teach in the business school’s Full-Time MBA program.

Spence will be Professor of Economics, and has already taught the course 'Growth in the Emerging Economies' to the current MBA class at SDA Bocconi.

He is also Professor of Economics at New York University’s Stern School of Business and Philip H. Knight Professor Emeritus of Management at the Graduate School of Business of Stanford University.

Spence is President of the Commission on Growth and Development, an international policy group dedicated to promoting sustainable growth and poverty reduction in developing countries.

His arrival strengthens the international prestige of SDA Bocconi's Full-Time MBA, which in 2011 entered the European Top Ten in the Financial Times ranking.
