Who says your next exotic vacation can’t include a memorable cosmetic procedure? Men and women of all ages have begun to enjoy the fruits of medical tourism, especially as baby boomers are electing cosmetic surgery at steadily increasing rates. Marie Kolstad, for example, an 83-year-old woman who received breast implant surgery, is among the growing demographic of baby boomers that are undergoing cosmetic surgery. With such significant gains in both the medical and travel industries, what are the best places to go and what are the most popular procedures?

From the shimmering, crystalline waters of Hawaii’s beaches to the top of mount Mauna Kea, Hawaii offers ample opportunities for all types of vacationers. So the next time an excursion is on the docket, why not consider the effortless beauty of Hawaii’s historic landscape? Tourists are able to enjoy Kauai, the oldest of Hawaii’s islands, by gawking at the gorgeous Napali Coast or kayaking down the calm Wailua River. For the high-energy type “A” tourist, the deep irrigation ditches of Lihue offer the perfect environment for an adrenaline-fueled tube ride.

Oahu is Hawaii’s most bustling area and the heavily acclaimed pride of the surfing community. Aside from taking surfing lessons and watching the pros compete, Waikiki beach boasts sparkling, gentle waters and a stunning atmosphere.

Just over the US border, Panama boasts an immaculate tapestry of beaches and a well-developed medical industry to suit both tourists and medical tourists. The US dollar is the official currency and the majority of Panama’s medical professionals were educated and trained in the US.

If you’re going to contend with the beautiful natives on the beaches of Hawaii or Panama, it’s wise to prepare using the correct cosmetic procedure. But which procedure is best? The best way to garner a consensus is to look at the statistics. First of all, know that it’s never too late. While teenagers and younger people normally opt for nose jobs, the older age bracket have a wider range of desired procedures.  Over 7 percent of all surgical procedures are conducted on individuals over the age of 65. In the same age group, 84,685 surgical procedures were conducted. The most popular surgery was the face-lift, at 26,635 surgeries performed. Next in line were cosmetic eyelid surgeries at 24,783, followed by 6,469 liposuctions 5,874 breast reductions, 3,875 forehead lifts, 3,339 breast lifts and 2,414 breast augmentations.

There are economical vacation destinations and then there are vacations that are just cheap. It seems that getting a plastic surgery abroad comes with dangers.

But as the business of this type of tourism will take its toll on safety as the ASJ recently reported, there will be high lights that simply astounds the imagination. India is bound to enjoy a windfall in the tune of $2 billion next year on medical tourism. Such a huge business will no doubt require huge investments in keeping them. We can assume that principal countries benefitting from medical tourism will keep abreast on the latest safety standards.
