The French school, renowned for its tastes in innovative pedagogy and technology has joined iTunes U

Grenoble Ecole de Management, the School of Management, Technology and Innovation, widens its offer of free pedagogical content by distributing its course contents on iTunes U, a dedicated area of the iTunes Store (www.itunes.fr) that offers free audio and video content from leading educational institutions.

The school already offers its content free of charge via its Francophone e-learning platform OPENCIM, developed in 2006.

GEM is a pioneer when it comes to Educational Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Our presence on iTunes U highlights our wish to open up our course content to the world at large by multiplying its access and at the same time highlighting our pedagogical resources online”, explains Mark Humbert, head of innovative pedagogy at Grenoble Ecole de Management.

With iTunes U, the school now has an additional place where it can showcase all its video resources produced by its faculty and researchers alike including, courses, conferences, presentations of research article amongst others which can be downloaded for free to a computer, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

On iTunes U, GEM offers hundreds of downloadable content which can be ‘digested’ at any time by students and researchers all over the world, professionals looking for strategic thinking or any other individual adamant to learn more about Management", said Eric Villard, iTunes U Project Manager at Grenoble Ecole de Management.

Grenoble Ecole de Management: 25 years of pedagogical and technological innovation

Since its creation, Grenoble Ecole de Management developed an expertise around mutations linked to the management of technology in businesses. As well as developing general business management knowledge, students also get training in Technology Management and Innovation.

Historically, technology comes naturally to the Grenoble school:
1988: The school requests that all students acquire a laptop computer
1995: Design of educational and e-learning portals
1996: 250 infrared pillars are installed for laptop connections 
2001: The school becomes one of the first European institutions to equip its infrastructure with WIFI
2003: Creation of a new distance learning platform
2004: Thousands of publications and ebooks are made available via the online library Netlibrary.
2005: Launch of a new student portal - My ESC
2006: Launch of OpenCim – free access e-learning portal (Open Courseware in Management). 
2007: Classrooms are equipped with interactive white boards
2008: Installation of tactile electronic sensor screens, a new local wireless WIFI network secured with the 802, 11 n norm up, laptops given to all French Grande Ecole students
2009: ELearning course – a simultaneous class taught in Grenoble and Tsukuba (Japan)
2010: A Bloomberg trading floor opens at the School, an 'innovation' lab is set up aimed at testing, amongst other innovations, the pedagogical advantages of the iPad (50 iPads given to the student beta testers and a new iPhone app developed for tech-savvy applicants
2011: The school joins iTunes U
