Results of the 2011 Year-end Poll of Employers conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council indicate an improved job market for MBAs in 2012.

Results of the poll show:

• Nearly three-quarters (74%) of employers plan to hire MBAs in 2012, up from 58% in 2011.

• Not only are more companies planning to hire, but they plan to hire at similar or increased levels in 2012 compared to 2011.

• Nearly four times as many companies are planning to increase the number of MBAs they hire in 2012, compared to 2011 (from 6% in 2011 to 22% in 2012).

• 32% of companies plan to increase salaries for MBA hires.

This poll, combined with our annual Corporate Recruiters Survey conducted in the spring, lend the organization a unique vantage point to help understand and help explain trends in workforce demand for MBA and business master’s graduates. A total of 229 employers from 216 companies worldwide participated in the 2011 Year-End Poll of Employers.

I think MBA recruitment is very different depending on what sector and what city you're in - impossible to generalise like this across 229 people in different countries...
