More than 90% of Full Time students of CUMBA are coming from overseas. Diana Gineva, a Bulgarian student says, “Hong Kong combines features of both East and West, is currently one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world and an ideal destination for pursing an MBA Degree”
Before embarking the CUMBA joinery, Diana studied International Business at Reutlingen University. The rapid growth of China’s economy and the immeasurable market opportunities inspired her to peruse an MBA at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. And Diana shares her experience with CUMBA:
“The practice-oriented approach benefits me in great due throughout the whole learning process. The Professors guide us in various group projects and case studies, to ensure that we understand and are able to apply what we have learnt. The students are also given the opportunity to choose one or two concentration options from Finance, Marketing, Entrepreneurship and China Business. We may better plan and prepare for our future career in earlier stage.
Apart from regular lecture series, CUMBA works very hard to provide all-round development of students. Therefore, the career management centre provides career and other job-related training services for students to enhance our competitiveness, for instance, presentation skills workshops and mock interviews.
CUMBA has partnered with a large number of top business universities including, but not limited to LBS, HEC, NYU, Chicago Booth, and CEIBS. Therefore, students who wish to gain overseas study experience, may enroll for the 3-month exchange programme. As I already have studied aboard, I prefer to take a faster track to complete my MBA within 12 months.
During my stay here I realized that China and Asia in general are the ideal place for a quick career start. The economic growth in China implies a favorable environment for ambitious students who would like to climb up the professional ladder as quick as possible. Hence, I would also like to stay in Hong Kong or the mainland China after my graduation in order to grasp the biggest opportunity.
The CUMBA experience is very unusual for me. I came from a small town in Germany with no more than 100,000 citizens, and never realized that the personal network is so important before coming to Hong Kong – a city with more than 7-million residents. Fortunately, CUMBA has extraordinary strong alumni network which accounts for a doorstep in starting one’s future career. Moreover, the Elite Mentoring Programme of CUMBA offers me an opportunity to pair up with one of the CUMBA senior alumni who would share invaluable industrial experience with us.
Last but not least, Hong Kong’s geographic location adds value to my MBA study. It has a sub-tropical climate, and it is also renowned for its exotic fusion of Eastern and Western flavors with traditional Cantonese culinary delights. It is an absolute paradise for foodies. Besides, Hong Kong is very convenient to travel around with its highest standard international airport.”
