Nyenrode Business Universiteit in the Netherlands have come up with an innovative way to promote the re-launch of its International MBA programme.  Using the name of the founder of the mediaeval Nyenrode estate, Gerard Van Ruwiel, they have created a Facebook profile where potential students are invited to befriend Gerard and ‘tag’ themselves in a photo of the 2011 iMBA graduating class.

Désirée Van Gorp, Director of the new International MBA programme, says, “The idea is to link the entrepreneurial focus of Nyenrode and the new MBA with the founder of the Nyenrode estate, himself a successful entrepreneur in the 1300’s. Those interested in applying for the International MBA should also consider that for the very highest quality students, we are offering a full waiver of the fee. All you have to do is tag yourself to the photo on Gerard’s profile and we will be in touch with more details.”

Nyenrode’s MBA was shelved last year as a result of funding issues due to the financial crisis and the school has spent the time completely redesigning the course with tomorrow’s business challenges, a commitment to personal development and to delivering a global experience firmly at the top of the agenda.

“We’ve changed the programme radically and focus a lot more on personal development, experiental learning on a global scale and future leadership,” says Van Gorp, “and we allocate one day a week specifically to this - every Friday we discuss topics on leadership, have meetings with CEOs, or have boot camps taking the students out of their comfort zone.”

Soon employers wouldn't want to see my MBA certificate. They'd want to check that I'm tagged in my class's Facebook photo!

I'm off to tag myself now!

Full-fee wavier program visit sounds like a no-brainer. Especially going to a beautiful country like Holland!
