What does it take to Get Selected in Top UK Bskool

Every Year thousands of applications are sent to the Top UK bschools like it hapens in all the major B schools around the world however only a fraction of them can finally realise the dream
So what is that special something i the app that makes a particular App more selctable than the rest for some of the top Uk bschools (Lets consider only top 3 here- Judge, Said, LBS)
Some of the factors that we know now for sure which are given weigtage are :-
1. GMAT score and Academic Score
2. Quantity and Qualiy of work experience
3. Essays.
Now given the fact that those who apply to such top schools more or less satisfy all above 3 points (with certain + or -), WHat would be those "Other factors" which makes app distinguished. Here are few that i feel could save the day for such candidates ....Pls pour n your views as well under comments
1. Certifications done at any Levels (Professional would be better)
Certifications like
ITIL, SIX SIGMA, CCNA, CCNP -----> FOr IT Industry Folks
CFA, CA, ICWA, Finance certis ------> For Finance Industry Folks
PMP -----> general Management in any industry
Any other pls list
2. Awards & Recognition Received at the work place
Outstanding work done at Professional or Social arena can go a long wy in proving your credential as a responsible leader to the college. Awards and recognition which directy depict the traits of a manager would be regarded highly by adcom.
3. Sports and other Activities :- Although achievements in Sports and Culture would carry weightage in adcom's decision the level of expertise in such fields should be at the highest levels - State, Country or at the major organisation, to be able to stand out
4. Additional self or business initiatives like Entrepeneurship etc which sould speak volumes about your ideas and courage to go ahad with your idea etc.

I've heard graduates from the Nanyang business schools often seek to complete internships whilst completing their MBA, i think many more businesses should encourage this.

agree - no point highlighting sports etc unless you've really excelled at something - we all have sports and hobbies - so what! although slightly despairing of the olympic-level skiier, cheerleading captain, national concert-pianist... there must be flaws in these hyper-achievers?!
