Marcel Aldoma Gelonch

Bio

Marcel has 5+ years of professional working experience as a consultant. He first served Mercer Consulting in the Actuarial Advisory Group, where he gained expertise in solving an array of financial and actuarial business issues in the Corporate Pension Plan Management field. Later on he served the Catalan Government, first as an economic researcher and later as an official supervisor of mutual insurance companies. In both positions he analyzed widespread data and was responsible for clearly conveying the outcomes so that economic authorities or clients could make optimal decisions.

Marcel’s MBA summer internship at Abbott Laboratories gave him a broad view of the nutrition and pediatric businesses and hands on experience on organizational, sales force effectiveness and people issues.

Marcel held a notorious leadership position while at Fuqua as a President of the European Business Club. He was also an active member of the Consulting, Marketing and Soccer Clubs. Finally, Marcel holds the Diploma of Research Proficiency from the PhD in Business Studies as well as two Bachelors of Science from the University of Barcelona, one in Statistics and the other in Actuarial and Financial Sciences.

- Selected to represent the Government in annual economic monitoring meetings. · Trained 9 government officials on the Solvency II project (updated set of regulatory requirements for insurance firms that operate in the E.U - similar to Basel II). · Analyzed financial statements and solvency margins of over 40 Health, Life and Non-Life Insurance Companies, reinforcing insured rights and long term business viability. · Assessed financial inspections undergone by some of these same 40 Insurance companies and recommended appropriate action to achieve compliance with investment regulations and solvency requirements. · Studied the 1997-2007 evolution of the Catalan Savings Banks with the benefit of a competitively-won government research grant. Provided detailed analysis to the economic authorities of the Catalan Government.
