Raphael Benhamou

Bio

I did my undergraduate degree in Physics and European Languages at The University of Nottingham, with an ERASMUS exchange to EPFL, in Lausanne (Switzerland). I took language classes in advanced French, high-level Spanish and beginner's Italian. My physics modules were in a variety of disciplines, including thermodynamics, statistical and quantum physics, optics, communications, astrophysics, theoretical elementary particles, solid state theory and fluid mechanics.

I have just completed a MSc called Metals and Energy Finance, which is jointly run by the Royal School of Mines, and Imperial College Business School. The course comprises of classes in mineral and petroleum engineering, mining techniques and exploration analysis, project finance and modelling, and finance classes on derivatives and portfolio management. The course also includes role plays on planning a mining project, from exploration though to looking for partners. I also took Spanish classes, and participated in excursions to the South coast of England to visit the Wessex Petroleum Basin, and the Bushveld Complex in South Africa to get some first-hand knowledge of how mining projects and companies function, both on a technical level, and how this is linked to business strategies and finance.

Currently, I am searching for project valuation roles, with an eye to moving into the metals and energy consulting sector after gaining a few years of technical experience.
