Stijn van Osselaer

Bio

Stijn van Osselaer is Professor of Marketing and chairs the marketing department at the Rotterdam School of Management at Erasmus University. His main research interests are in branding and the influences of learning, memory, and cognition in consumers’ decisions. Professor van Osselaer’s work has appeared in, for example, the Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Experimental Psychology: Learning, Memory, and Cognition. He is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Consumer Research, a former Area Editor at the International Journal of Research in Marketing, and a member of the Journal of Marketing’s Editorial Review Board. He will co-chair the 2010 North American Association for Consumer Research (ACR) conference and co-chaired the European ACR Doctoral Symposium in 2007. He also serves as International Perspectives Director on the Board of Directors of ACR. Professor van Osselaer received his PhD from the University of Florida and previously served as Assistant and Associate Professor at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. He has been a Visiting Professor at Booth and at London Business School. He is a recipient of the Ferber Award for best dissertation-based article in the Journal of Consumer Research and the Best Reviewer Award from the Journal of Marketing. He has taught and/or consulted for organizations ranging from multinationals (e.g., GlaxoSmithKline, l’Oréal, Vodafone, GE), to government agencies (e.g., the Dutch Prison Service), and upstarts (e.g., NewCompliance).
