GW MBA Overview

Global MBA
 
Global MBA students are challenged to view things from a wider perspective—and to make decisions that strive for profit as well as positive impact. 
 
Our revised curriculum gives Global MBA students the freedom to tailor their studies to their professional interests and goals.
 
The Global MBA program is 55.5 credit hours long. Three-credit courses are a full semester long (14 weeks). Courses that are 1.5 credits are seven weeks in length and are offered either in the first or second half of a semester.
 
Core Courses: 28.5 credits*
 
*Up to six credits of may be waived based on previous academic coursework
 
Consulting Abroad Project (CAP): 3 credits
 
Electives: 24 credits
 
The Global MBA is a 21-month, full-time program.

Elective Requirements
 
The GMBA curriculum allows for 24 credits to be to be taken as Electives. In fulfilling these credits, students can customize a course of study by adding Concentrations and/or Certificates to their degree or selecting individual courses of interest.

Each Concentration satisfies 12 credits, and up to two Concentrations can be listed on degree transcripts and diplomas. Students can choose from 15 MBA Concentrations:

Elective Courses
 
Students can also choose from more than 200 Electives offered at the School of Business. Students may also take up to 12 Elective credits outside of the School of Business, and up to six of those credits may be fulfilled by courses taken outside the university.
 
 
Online MBA
 
The Online MBA is embedded in the center of Washington, DC, where the private, public and NGO sectors meet and interact. Our institutional and professional relationships in the area enable us to provide our distance-learning students with opportunities to immerse themselves through a four-day residency course in DC, class projects, digital course materials, live learning opportunities, and co-curricular experiences.

Program And Course Format

Students may begin the program in the Fall, Spring or Summer semesters (August, January, or May). Generally students will take six credit hours per semester.
 
With the exception of the Business and Society Residency, all coursework is offered completely online. Cutting-edge, digital courses are organized into learning episodes and are comprised of videos, video cases, podcasts, animations, and other pre-recorded content in addition to traditional reading assignments. Students progress within each learning unit at their own paces, but must complete the learning unit by assigned target dates.
 
Two to three times during each course, students participate in guided live classroom sessions consisting of lectures, case discussions, and/or group activities. These live sessions are offered during evenings/weekends and are announced by the instructor at the beginning of each course. They also are recorded and made available to students within the digital platform. These sessions provide participants with real-time contact with faculty and other students. This mix of digital and live sessions maximizes learning and flexibility.
 
In addition to live classroom discussions, faculty are available to students during online office hours offered through the digital classroom platform. Office hours afford students the opportunity to interact informally with faculty and ask questions about course material and assignment feedback.

Additionally, Professional MBA students can take all of their courses on campus or elect to take some via distance learning in our Online MBA program.

For those interested in an Executive Education experience, the World Executive MBA program prepares high-level working professionals for the demands of the C-Suite, including cyber threats, in a 16-month, weekend-only format.
