An internship at a UK real estate consulting firm during his University of Bath School of Management MBA led to a post-graduation job offer for Dominik Adamus.

Dominik, 31, landed the internship at Property Solutions through Bath’s Careers Office as part of his final project. The brief for his original internship position was to optimise customer value propositions and create a marketing strategy within the service charge management industry.

Property Solutions, which was founded in 1992, describes itself as the UK’s leading commercial service charge consultancy

However, having made an impact at the business in his first few months, he was offered a permanent position as key account manager working alongside company director Andrew Morley.

Now tasked with developing key account relationships for the company, his portfolio includes Lloyds Banking Group, WPP and CBRE Group.

Property Solutions is focused on helping clients control the costs of services provided by landlords in multi-tenanted buildings.

We asked Dominik if he had ever wanted a job in the City like many MBAs, and he replied that he loved living in the South West of England and had an enviable work-life balance that he wouldn’t trade for a life in the City.

Dominik, a Polish national, relocated to the UK in 2004 to study for a Postgraduate Certificate in Construction Management at the University of Birmingham and then went on to complete an MSc in Quantity Surveying at the University of the West of England (UWE), Bristol. Afterwards, he worked as a quantity surveyor for Balfour Beatty and also for EC Harris before embarking on the Bath University MBA.

An MBA had been his dream after he read about it at the age of 16. He finally made the decision to take one in 2009 when he realised that his background as a quantity surveyor was very narrow and technically focused and that he wanted more management and leadership skills.

Rather than the huge multimillion pound construction projects he dealt with in his previous roles, he now concentrates on managing customer relations and is responsible for developing the marketing strategy of the company . Dominik says, “the new role with Property Solutions is a change of industry for me as I’m now part of the executive team in the company”.

Bath was the only business school Dominik applied to because of its great reputation - the best choice, if you want to stay out of the UK's big cities.

With his challenging new role, it seems his MBA has helped him up the ladder to senior management: “I have completely different experiences now, managing a strong team of four and I’m far more involved at a strategic level”, says Dominik.
