Europe's St Gallen on top, but ranking reveals growing global demand for MiM degrees
The University of St Gallen has topped the Financial Times ranking of masters in management programs, in a list that reveals growing global demand for the degrees.The Swiss business school held the top spot for the fifth consecutive year amid growing competition, outdistancing France's HEC Paris and ESSEC Business School, which came in second and third places respectively.
The 2015 ranking is dominated by European schools, but international demand pushed the number of programs in the table to 80, up from 70 programs ranked last year.
Sotirios Paroutis, Warwick Business School assistant dean for masters programs, said that the MSc Management "is proving to be an increasingly popular course".
Masters in management courses are geared toward students with little or no previous work experience.
The MiM ranking is based on data collected from two surveys — one of business schools and the other of their alumni who graduated three years ago — and is partly based on how successful alumni have been in their careers, in terms of earnings.
St Gallen’s alumni reported average salaries of $90,000 three years after graduation, the third-highest in Europe behind Germany’s WHU Beisheim and HHL Leipzig. St Gallen is also ranked first for international experience and aims achieved; third for job placement; and fourth for value for money.
Schools from Spain, Italy, the Netherlands and the UK complete the top-10 of the ranking, among them IE Business School and ESCP Europe. But new entries point to the global appeal of MiM degrees.
Eight schools are ranked for the first time, with India’s IIM Bangalore the highest entrant at 26. The 2015 ranking also contains its first joint MiM: the program offered by Spain’s IQS, Fu Jen University of Taiwan, and the University of San Francisco.
Nova School of Business and Economics in Portugal and France’s La Rochelle Business School, are the two highest climbers, up 17 and 16 places respectively to rank at 31 and 48.
British and French business schools dominate this year, accounting for 42% of ranked institutions. These include Grenoble GSB, and Em Lyon Business School of France. For the UK, Lancaster University Management School, Imperial College Business School, Cass Business School, and new entrant Exeter Business School are all ranked.
The number of UK schools rose by two to 13, while French schools increased their tally by three, taking the total to 21.
However for the UK, only London Business School and Warwick Business School moved up the ranking this year, to two and 23 respectively.
This is partly the result of the poor performance of British schools on international course experience, according to the FT data. London Business School for example is ranked at 41 by this criterion. Also, just 0.3% of UK-based students took part in international exchanges, compared with 87% of recent graduates from French schools.
For careers — based on seniority of graduates and size of company — IIM Calcutta came out on top. Two-thirds of the Indian school’s graduates work in companies with more than 5,000 employees, mainly in three sectors: technology and telecoms; finance and banking; and consulting.
WHU Beisheim came first for internships. About three-quarters of students from the class of 2012 received a job offer following their internship, half of them accepting.

Learning environment
The teacher-learner ration is manageable, giving each learner a chance to gain personal attention. It is also easier following up on the progress of a student, as the numbers per class is not large. the conducive environment for learning includes clean classes, standard desks, world class instructional facilities and the opportunity to engage lecturers even after their sessions. The team spirit at City is above board, with learners getting chance to learn both from instructors and colleagues. This is the university of choice; the place to be.
Classes
I liked that each class had a manageable number of learners, making the professor-learner ratio favor knowledge acquisition. I also liked that study schedules were manageable, and not overwhelming. The focus on talents and gifts even within the learning environment makes it possible for learners to achieve the best of their potential, and this has worked to the advantage of those that have schooled at City, University of London
Classes
The diversity at City University facilitates interactions and is a direction toward the unity of the world. The classes are well built to match the number and needs of all students regardless of the elements of diversity that set people apart. The use of technology in delivery makes learning even more interesting and achievable. At City University there is no distinction pegged on the issues that make people unique.

The team of lecturers at the Uiversity are well experienced. Their level of insight and the methodologies of delivery works for the interes of the leaeners. My learning experience was largely boosted by the level of knowledge of the professors at the institution, and their passion to transfer the same to learners. I appreciate every class I attended because of the level of insight I was able to gather
The best university I’ve been to
The campus and the people I've met have made it a wonderful experience. I was reared in a small town with a graduating class of only 88 individuals, so moving to City University was a huge adjustment for me. My dorm has more residents than my whole high school combined! I enjoy the atmosphere here, and everyone is so friendly. Outstanding academic options and a stunning campus. Really great from beginning to end. The educators genuinely love what they do, and the students are ready to learn. On or around college, there is always something to do with friends, and the social scene is particularly warm.

Economics and Politics
Incredibly amazing university, the way they polish students and help them boost their morale and think intellectually is worthwhile. Many universities have international partnerships to allow exchanges between their students. The most obvious subjects for these opportunities would be those that involve languages, and the study of people and places.
