Throughout my working career I have been either directly involved in sales or directing sales with a marketing bias. Being instrumental in initiating a powerful advertising idea for a national product through to improving the quality and content of major international brands for a major world publisher, I have had considerable input. Researching directly through universities in 1972 for market-gap material for student courses my ideas were developed to realise the most profitable Non Fiction range of titles ever produced for a major world publisher. I have been involved in public speaking on tertiary education and had the opportunity to presenting ideas to improve the method of delivering best practice teaching of our national curriculum before Lord Grise in London.
Working out of Chelsea, London, in 2002, I directed the setting up of a new publishing house organising everything from contractual issues through to producing flow charts controlling the chronological journey of books to manufacture. The tasks were varied; choosing type face and paper weights for printing; proof reading; jacket design; blurb; negotiating for, and organising, outside distribution; mail shots, etc. In my position as Sales Director my responsibilities naturally encompassed sales development and Tele-Selling training. With my marketing hat on I was fortunate in managing our publicity successfully and, with the professional assistance of publicist Fiona Marsh, saw our first paperback presented on the Richard and Judy Show. The title subsequently reached the small publishers best seller list. During my time working in London I was asked to take over the control of New European Publications, John Coleman’s Company, and pursued By Sir Richard Body to this effect.
Currently my one-man company, Archway Literary Agency, is a holding company for future successes in publishing..
Currently I have completed part one of a two part biography for which there is already Film interest.
