Work

2008 – 2010

Sr Consultant

Persistent Systems Inc. , United States of America
  • Persistent Systems Ltd, a US$160m company, with over 5,000 employees worldwide, is a leading outsourced product development company, offering a wide range of services including R&D, development testing, consulting, support and maintenance to clients globally.
  • Reporting directly to the Practice Head, I was a part of a start-up technology consulting group focused on Identity and Access Management, which grew from 10 to 110 employees in two years. My responsibilities included leading consulting teams at client sites, advising clients on turnkey solutions, performing business development activities and performing various pre-sales activities.
  • Consulting assignment based in Chicago, US: Successfully advised Newedge Group Inc on implementing SOX regulatory controls following merger of the brokerage arms of two leading investment banks (Société Générale and Calyon). Spearheaded the requirement analysis and design of the solution and also led a cross-functional implementation team of 35, leading to a circa US$800K annual savings through overhead and redundancy reduction.
  • Pre-sales assignment, based in Ohio, US: Successfully performed a pilot to win the consulting group’s largest deal worth US$800K with LexisNexis Inc. Led the demonstration of product value proposition, high-level design discussions and solution approach presentations to the project sponsors. Successful implementation at LexisNexis was followed by a US$600K consulting contract with their parent company, Reed Elsevier.
  • Product Manager: Spotted a commercial opportunity related to facilitating migration from Sun to Oracle Workflow Management product suite, following the Oracle-Sun acquisition. Convinced the management, defined a product strategy and set up and led a team of six to develop the solution. Following several product demos to Oracle, the second customer to evaluate the product decided to migrate to Oracle, resulting in a product and services business of US$450K for Persistent Systems.
  • Consulting assignment based in Chicago, US: Recognition from CEO for being instrumental in winning a US$400K deal with Zebra Technologies Inc. Helped to sell Persistent Systems' consulting services, assisted the client in vendor selection, analysed the requirements and designed an integrated solution for Zebra partners, resellers and employees. Successful implementation and diligent client focus resulted in a follow-up business of US$600K.
  • Pre sales executive: Helped to win several key deals worth US$1.8m by independently performing pre-sales activities including executive presentations, product marketing demonstrations to top management and leading pilots and proof of concepts in a high-pressure environment.
  • Business development: Created business development proposals for more than five risk management potential engagements. Played a key role in recruitment of experienced hires and led activities pertaining to Knowledge Management and training.
2007 – 2008

  • My responsibilities included developing product strategy and road map with higher management, planning the project deliverables, managing client and end-customer expectations, performing product demonstrations to customers and people management. I also engaged in consulting and training assignments on behalf of Critical Path.
