About The Fletcher School (Tufts University)

The Fletcher School was founded in 1933 with a bequest from Dr Austin Barclay Fletcher (Tufts class of 1876).

Fletcher holds a special place among schools of international affairs. Diplomats from across the world and international policymakers have been filling its classrooms for decades before beginning their professional lives.

Fletcher's Master of International Business builds on 30 years of experience of teaching business, or "commerce" as it was known back in the day.

What's more, Tufts University doesn't have a business school so students aren't shunted off to another building for classes. The curriculum is joined up and intense. If you see yourself managing political risk for BP or setting loan terms for World Bank projects, the MIB is for you.

Fletcher students don't talk about changing the face of business but about changing the world. Electives like "International Consultancy" and "International Negotiation and Conflict resolution" reflect this.

No other school boasts a 'hall of flags', a common area in one of the buildings of The Fletcher School where the walls are lined with flags from every country in the world.

The MIB is a unique hybrid of a business degree and an international affairs degree. This two-year interdisciplinary program allows students to gain traditional business skills as well as the international knowledge necessary for working in a global business environment. MIB students gain a foundation of skills through a series of required core classes in business, international affairs and regional studies (offered in English and the native language of the region) Students can also pursue their individual interests through flexible elective classes and 2 fields of study; one international business field and the other in an international affairs field.
