The obvious reasons for heading to Australia for your MBA include the region’s connection to important Asian markets and the fact that Australian MBAs earn the highest salaries right now!

But here are a few other great aspects of life down under that some prospective may not MBAs consider before making their choice of school…

1. MBA programs offer Australia-specific programs and clubs
Schools such as the Australian Graduate School of Management offer a Leisure Club where students enjoy regional sports, events, foods and wines in their time off.

Edith Cowan University’s Perth Graduate School of Business has state-of-the-art recreation and fitness centres on all three campuses, where students and staff get discounted gym memberships and can participate in night team sports, intervarsity sport, the Australian University Games, sporting clubs and sporting trips.

If sport doesn't take your fancy, than there's a host of cultural, intellectual, artistic and social groups and events for students to become involved in...e.g. an event held this month was the International Food and Culture festival (ECU Guild website)

2. Aussie organic farming and investment banking industries are predicted to grow
Although most people think of Australia’s rich mining industry, the organic farming and investment banking industries are set to make huge strides in the coming years. The organic farming industry will experience over 11 percent growth by 2015, according to a report by business analysis firm IBISWorld. Australia has the largest area of organic farmland in the world and has over 2,000 businesses in the industry. Also, IBISWorld reports the investment banking industry will grow by 10 percent by 2015: despite some stagnation during the economic downturn, Australia's banks came through the crisis relatively well and the investment banking industry in Australia is looking up!

3. Take part in Australia’s art events
Although every country has traditional cultural events, Australia is really putting itself ahead especially in the area of art festivals. The Sydney Festival hosts over 1,000 artists every year all over the city, which is very accessible for AGSM students! Everything from theatre to contemporary dance to rap is represented at this unique fest of Australia’s mix of cultures.

Similarly, the Perth International Arts Festival, which is the oldest annual international arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere, showcases a variety of visual and performing arts. Lucky students from the Perth Graduate School of Business had easy access to the performances of artists like Macklemore and Jens Lekamn during this year’s fest!

The above factors are important to consider, of course, but don’t forget about Australia’s best attraction for any hardworking MBA student: the amazing surfing beaches!
