Angelo Pardi has worked at a foundry of aluminium, zinc and magnesium alloys in West Africa; worked for the Italian and French Ministries of Defence; studied for a Bachelor of Science; an engineering degree and now an MBA over the course of 20+ years. But he isn’t stopping there!

The energy-specialist MBA has received an interesting proposal to manage the production department of a US plant within one year, once he finishes his studies at MIP Politecnico Di Milano

In 2010, he left his position at Metec WA, where he was managing up to 25 people at a time, to further his skills at the prestigious Italian university. “It was a brave choice, but I do not regret anything,” he says of living in Milan without any income. “I am a goal orientated person, with a huge passion for my work. I am curious and willing to improve continuously in order to always be the reference person for all the companies I go to work for.”

An impressive CV that boasts managerial roles across five different companies since October, 2004 clearly illustrates his point. But it is engineering where Angelo’s roots were sown before embarking on the full-time MBA program at the Milan-based business school. “Engineering was my only one choice,” he says. “I always liked the technical and science side of things; understanding why everything works in that way.”

Angelo says he decided he needed to obtain an MBA to improve his managerial skills: “Working as a project manager for different projects and companies, I needed improve my soft skills and managerial skills."

So why MIP? The former engineer says that he was convinced by his colleagues that it was the right place to study.

“In MIP I appreciated the analytical mind-set and I also followed the suggestion of two of my colleagues, whom attended the same international full-time MBA some years before,” he said.

“This MBA was only the beginning: to boost my career path. Personally, I feel ready for more challenging positions. But, as all MBA graduates say, the result of an MBA can be appreciated only after two or three years.”

Angelo thinks that the MIP MBA has changed his business perspective and the way he approaches things. He says that all engineers should study an MBA to gain recognition. “It is a professional and human experience, that changes your perspective and the way you approach things,” he said.

“Nowadays, an MBA is the most complete Master; in order to fulfil most of the required managerial skills.

“My suggestion is to try and do it in the best way possible: put all your strength to success on it, create the best network you can with colleagues, lecturers and professionals in the business seminars.

“An MBA is an investment, but it is an important piece in our puzzle of life. All the engineers that want to be recognized as good managers should do it.”
