The admissions team from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM)  will visit five European cities in March to advise young professionals interested in a country that has the highest post-MBA salaries in the world.

Australia's economy is growing faster than the Western world, thanks to a boom in exports to China, and demand for qualified managers in industries such as mining is strong. The AGSM admissions team is offering one-to-one consultation sessions with European candidates to provide expert advice on what opportunities an MBA could open up for them.

The AGSM MBA has been ranked the top full-time MBA programme in Australia by the Financial Times from 2007 to 2012. It was also the first Australian business school to be accredited by the AACSB. Its programme is delivered in Sydney, the financial capital of Australia, gateway to the Asia Pacific, and consistently rated as one of the best cities in the world to live in.

Australia has been ranked as the place with the highest MBA graduate salaries. New MBA graduates earn as much as US$ 155,000, even more than graduates from top schools such as Harvard (US$121,785). MBA grads from AGSM  earned on average AU$127,843 (US$131,410) after graduating in 2012.  This amounted to a 41 per cent hike on average pre-MBA pay.

Within three months of graduating, 89 per cent of MBAs were employed. The school has a particular strength in management consulting: 62 per cent of grads entered the industry in 2012. A further 12 per cent went into chemicals, petroleum and mining, while 8 per cent went into banking and finance.

We’ve interviewed a number of AGSM MBA graduates who have already taken advantage of Australia's booming economy and its links to Asia Pacific. Trey Zagante was headhunted by VanceInfo Tech, a Chinese technology outsourcing firm, to grow the company in Australia.

We have also featured AGSM China Alumni Association who are working to be the biggest Australian MBA Alumni network in China. The school regularly hosts conferences and seminars with the biggest names in finance and business to keep students informed of the opportunities in the region. Last year two senior IMF officials visited the campus to share their insights on the Asian economy.

Finally, AGSM graduates also make waves in the non-profit world. Class of 2011 MBA David Rose is also the CEO of HeartKids Australia, a charity that works to rescue children suffering from heart disease, which in Australia is as many as one in six children.

Sydney itself is a great place to live. The city is home to 100 beaches, clear ocean sunrises 338 days a year, 29, 000 trees lining the streets, heritage architecture, free healthcare, and much more. It offers the perfect combination of natural beauty and a vibrant lifestyle.

AGSM’s centrally located campus is just a stone's throw from Sydney Harbour, and gorgeous beaches which you can hit for surf, sand and sexy bodies.

After a long week of MBA classes, you can also treat yourself to a good night out, and a good breakfast the following morning! Sydney’s best brunches are rumoured to be at Three Blue Ducks, bills, Cornersmith, and Chez Dee.

If you love to keep fit, you are also in luck. City to Surf is the big one for the runner’s calendar. Every spring, Sydney’s runners, joggers, walkers and spectators fill the streets for the 14 kilometre route event.  Nike is planning a repeat of its first ever all-female night run in Australia, She Runs 10k. Last year 3,200 women came together at the Centennial Park and more women are expected this year.

On-campus events at AGSM are equally as exciting. This year’s MBA cohort is a diverse group of 54 students from 16 countries including Jordan, USA, Spain, China, and Chile. There are many student clubs and activities to engage in. You can also take part in exchange programmes at one of 27 elite international business schools.
