Alberto Meneghello began his accounting career at Deloitte & Touche S.p.A. After two years of working in the professional services firm, he decided to accept an offer from an Italian founded multinational corporation in the automotive industry.

In January 2014, he co-founded tax advisory firm TMC Tax, Legal & Advisory focused on helping companies expand internationally.

Presently, Alberto is making plans towards attending business school for the MBA. He is certain an MBA is a great opportunity to sharpen his management and leadership skills and thus provide success both in his career and entrepreneurial endeavours.

Why do you want to begin an MBA now, and what will you gain from it?

I believe this is the best moment in my life to embark on this kind of adventure. Honestly the idea of doing an MBA did not come suddenly into my mind, nor did it happen recently.

It is the time for a (personal) breakthrough: considering my job experiences, I want to get out of my comfort zone and draw new career paths. From an MBA I expect to sharpen my skills, especially soft skills, and to access fundamental networks, also to be exposed to a multicultural and competitive context.

What are the most important factors to you when choosing a business school?

Surely, there are many factors which influence the choice of a business school: but in my opinion the first thing is to understand one’s self. This is a primary step in order to make the right decision. I could not choose the right programme without being clear on what I want to achieve. And, since I think that each business school has its own peculiar characteristics, it is also necessary to understand them.

This is aimed at finding the ideal match between personal expectations and the appropriate business school. There is an overwhelming offer of programmes; therefore I have spent a reasonable amount of time trying to understand which one is best for me

How did you prepare (or will you begin preparing) for the GMAT / GRE, if you have taken it?

For my GMAT practice I utilised the official GMAC material. To refresh my math skills I made use of some further preparation books. I would strongly recommend to test takers also to take a look at dedicated forums online where students meet to discuss about the test and share their experiences. I have found it really useful.

How do you plan to fund your MBA?

Well, I will surely apply for all the possible scholarships, but I am currently relying mostly on personal savings and on the possibility of taking out a loan. I believe this is a great opportunity in my life, so I carefully planned my savings in advance to achieve it.

What are your future career plans?

I am interested in roles that will allow me to establish long-lasting relationships with clients. Providing solutions has always made me feel fulfilled in my job! And I strongly desire to hold a position in a multicultural environment: I believe this would offer the chance to provide continuously new ideas and is also a stimulus for personal growth, benefiting therefore the organisation I will work for.
