Later this month the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) will open registrations for the GMAT Focus Edition, an improved version of the flagship business school admissions test.

The updated exam, which features a streamlined format, new scoring system, and flexible structure, is set to launch in late 2023 with registrations to take the test opening on August 29th.

To help test-takers prepare, GMAC has launched a range of free and paid-for prep materials that candidates can access to kickstart their preparation.

What GMAT Focus Official Prep materials are available?

With both free and paid-for resources available, test takers have access to a wealth of materials to prepare for the new GMAT Focus Edition.

A good starting point for candidates is the free Official Starter Kit, offering a 70-question sample of all three sections, two full practice exams, and a guided review of the test.

The Starter Kit allows test-takers to simulate the official exam conditions with questions that adapt in difficulty as you improve, as well as the actual GMAT Focus scoring algorithm.

GMAC has also provided a free ‘Six-Week Study Planner’ to help candidates plan their preparation. This includes a breakdown of key topics to revise, the tasks candidates must take to prepare, and when to begin taking practice assessments.

For those looking to take their preparation further, there are a variety of paid materials costing between $20 and $290.

At a cost of $29.99, test takers can purchase section-specific question packs comprising over 100 questions. This allows the chance to practice skills in either the Quantitative, Verbal, or Data Insights sections of the exam. Review packages priced at $20.99 also provide detailed answer explanations to help candidates improve.

Also available is a practice questions bundle offering candidates access to more than 300 questions for each exam section, as well as the ability to analyze performance metrics to assess strengths and weaknesses. This bundle—which is available via the GMAT Official Practice app as well as online—costs $79.99.

Official Practice Exams are among the most popular offerings when it comes to prep material, according to GMAC. They return for the GMAT Focus Edition with one practice exam priced at $34.99, two at $59.99, and all four currently available at $107.99. These are designed to simulate the actual test-taking experience, and are crucial for evaluating performance, and identifying strengths and weaknesses.

The Official Guides series provides a glimpse into the test's structure and question types. For $47.99, the GMAT Official Guide 2023-2024 provides chapter breakdowns of the various exam sections, details of common formulae and concepts, and access to more than 800 practice questions.

The GMAT Official Guide Data Insights Review 2023-2024, GMAT Official Guide Quantitative Review 2023-2024, and GMAT Official Guide Verbal Review 2023-2024, each priced at $20.99, provide supplementary practice questions for these sections of the exam. All Official Guides also provide access to the Online Question Bank to create custom practice sets based on question types and difficulty level.

Across all the various prep materials available, candidates can find more than 1800 practice questions. The entirety of these questions can be accessed via the Premium GMAT™ Focus Study Collection 2023-2024, which is currently available for a discounted price of $289.99.
