David Beckham, global superstar and former captain of the England soccer team, recently gave a talk to MBA students at Harvard Business School (HBS).

Beckham, who played for several elite clubs across Europe including Real Madrid, Manchester United, AC Milan, and Paris Saint Germain, and was the subject of a high-profile Netflix documentary series this month, spoke to Harvard MBAs about his playing career and off-pitch exploits since retiring in 2013.

Throughout his playing career Beckham was involved in several high-profile commercial partnerships and has been the face of brands including Adidas, Pepsi, Gillette, and H&M.

Since retiring, Beckham has entered into a strategic partnership with Authentic Brands Group—owner of several retailers including Forever 21 and Barneys New York—reportedly worth more than $250 million

In 2018, he also helped launch Inter Miami CF, a new Major League Soccer team in the US that signed world cup winner and global superstar Lionel Messi earlier this year. Beckham is currently co-owner and chairman of the club.

Revealing his appearance at HBS via a post on his Instagram page, Beckham wrote: “Who would have thought the boy from east London talks at Harvard. He added that it was a huge honor to speak at the prestigious business school.

Harvard Business School regularly invites celebrities including the likes of Kim Kardashian and Anna Delvey to give talks to students. The school has also recently welcomed a number of high-profile students, including Rugby World Cup winner JP Pietersen, and ex Formula One driver Nyck de Vries.
