Celebrating its 25th year, IIT Roorkee's top annual salary package for an MBA student this year is Rs 27.94 lakhs ($33,784.68) per annum, while the average and median salaries are Rs 18.34 lakh ($22,176.49) and Rs 18.09 lakh ($21,874.19), respectively.
During this placement season, more than 50 corporations participated, including both new and established partners, resulting in a considerable improvement in the overall placement figures.
Along with improvements in the level of salary packages, there's also an increase in the number of pre-placement offers. Additionally, IIT Roorkee has seen a rise in the range of job roles being offered, with new positions in general management, marketing, and finance, alongside existing opportunities in operations, IT, and analytics.
Some of the top recruiters during this placement season include the likes of Accenture Strategy, Bank of America, Barclays, Dell Technologies, Deloitte, EY, IBM, Infosys, Morgan Stanley, Vedanta, and many other notable companies.
Professor (Dr.) Usha Lenka, head of the Department of Management Studies at IIT Roorkee, feels the placement success is down to the quality of the challenging program.
“The academic rigor of the two-year intensive MBA program is designed to imbibe students with much sought after competencies of analytical and critical thinking, professional acumen, dedication, discipline, compassion, and value-based education, to equip them for the dynamic business environment," she says.

Operations, IT & Analytics:
The operations, IT & analytics domain is the most popular area for IIT Roorkee MBAs in 2023, with 33 percent of the batch landing placements in the sector.
Job profiles offered include management trainee (operations), IT solutions advisor, package consultant, SAP consultant, operations analyst, data analyst, universal analyst, technical program manager, business analyst, and project manager.
Highest Package: 19.36 Lakhs Per Annum
Marketing:
As many as 29 percent of the 2023 IIT Roorkee MBA batch is placed in marketing.
Some of the jobs offered include management trainee (marketing), executive trainee (marketing), product manager, product specialist, relationship manager, business development, area sales manager, key account manager, and marketing strategy.
Highest Package: 18.29 Lakhs Per Annum
General Management:
A total of 24 percent of the 2023 batch have landed general management placements.
Profiles offered include management trainee, accelerated leader, young leader’s program, assistant manager, associate, senior manager, management leadership, strategy & business operations, team lead, and general manager.
Highest Package: 18.39 Lakhs Per Annum
Finance:
The finance industry was also popular, with 14 percent of the batch landing financial placements.
The roles offered to students include financial risk advisory, financial operations, financial analyst, senior auditor, digital journey manager, portfolio manager, internal audit, financial consultant, senior financial associate and graduate analyst.
