University of Exeter Business School have teamed up with the World Wildlife Fund to develop a new sustainability-focussed MBA. The One Planet MBA will begin in September this year.

The full time 12-month programme is based on the idea that mankind is consuming resources at an unsustainable rate, and that therefore the successful companies of the future will be the ones that are first to embrace sustainable business practices. Exeter and the WWF claim graduates from the One Planet MBA will be best equipped to lead these companies.

A diverse range of guest lecturers will teach students the basics of sustainability, business fundamentals and strategic thinking before allowing students to choose specialisations like ‘Eco-literacy’ or ‘Governing Responsibly and Ethically’.

The MBA culminates with a project, which can involve helping real businesses solve problems, a report on case studies, a dissertation or an evaluated 2-3 month work placement in the UK or overseas.

The One Planet MBA is accredited by the Association of MBAs and is being developed by a collaboration between many top management and economic figures, including Henry Mintzberg.
