Students and alumni from Cranfield University School of Management will give their careers a kick with a series of events throughout 2014, featuring big-name companies such as Coca-Cola and Johnson & Johnson.

The business school's Career Development Service has expanded its portfolio of events, giving Cranfield MBA and MSc students and graduates a chance to meet recruiters from some of the most sought-after companies in the MBA jobs world.

Cranfield’s second event of the year, the new Power Brands Event, will launch on 29 May in London. It will unite brand leaders from multiple industries – including retail, fashion, logistics and automotive – offering students the chance to gain expert knowledge and insight into the world of brand leadership.

It is one of several inter-linked strategies that the Career Development Service has delivered, expanding the services on offer to students on Cranfield’s specialist MSc Strategic Marketing and MSc Retail Management programmes.

Jeni Sullivan, an Events Executive at the school, said that they have seen an increase in recruitment from companies that attend the event – including EasyJet, Cannon and Boots. “We have expanded our portfolio of events this year to align with trends in the employment market,” she says.

“We have seen an increase in recruitment activity from leading brands within these industries over the last year and we hope to expand on that with this new events strategy.”

Jennifer Farnell, University Relations Coordinator at CFA Institute, the non-profit investment firm, who attended a similar finance event last year, praised the opportunity. “A very useful event at which we spoke with a wide, diverse range of engaged students,” she says.

A spokesperson from Santander, the Spanish banking giant, which also attended the Finance Event 2013, agreed. “Students were very professional and a pleasure to talk to.”

Another big-name attendee at the event, Genius Reserve, said it was a great opportunity to network with MBA and MSc students. “The event was well organised. Top talent in a great venue. Broad knowledge base – world citizens,” a representative said.

Another added: “Excellent venue, outstanding speakers and great opportunity to network with the best students.”

The new 2014 listing of events follows on from the success of Cranfield’s industry events last year. The upcoming March event will take place in London’s Grange City Hotel.

Jeni added that the school’s Consultancy Event and Finance Event continue to attract good return on recruitment activity, and Cranfield is delighted to host them again this year. The Consultancy Event kicks off on 13 March.

If you would like to discuss attending either of these events, please contact Jeni Sullivan, Events Executive, Career Development Service on text 3252 or j.sullivan@cranfield.ac.uk
