Sam Nagar and his sister Karishma debuted their concept of a secure, personal, home-Internet storage device at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The siblings had drawn inspiration for their idea from numerous security scandals at cloud-service leaders, and issues of privacy on social networking sites–not least the ‘spying’ revelations exposed at the NSA in 2013.

Pixeom’s product would minimize this risk by cutting out third-party security services and giving as much control as possible back to their users.

They returned from that CES having garnered interest from Fortune 500 companies looking to tweak their solution to meet their enterprise needs. They quickly realized that the real value in their concept was the ability to run Cloud Services at the edge or on-premise. They decided to pivot and go from a consumer product to an enterprise platform.

To get where they are today, Pixeom put together a group of engineers lead by titans of virtualization who already created virtual storage solutions which were sold to VMWare.

The privately owned Pixeom has gone on to a robust Edge computing solutions company. In 2019, the company raised $15 million in funding from the investment arms of its own clients like Intel Capital, Samsung Catalyst Fund and National Grid.

Today, the company has revenue in the double digit millions and has seen 4x growth year over year. Their client base is made up of dozens of Fortune 500 companies, global leaders in Energy, Telecom and Retail.

What is the company's size?

90

Which sector does it operate in?

Edge Computing

What industry verticals it operates in?

Energy, Manufacturing, Retail, Telecom and many more.

What does the business do and what are their core/flagship products?

Pixeom’s platform recreates and orchestrates cloud functionality on-premise, making it easy to deploy and manage large-scale, geographically distributed infrastructure and workloads.

It is a hardened enterprise-ready technology that meets the stringent requirements of our dozens of Fortune 500 customers and because Pixeom is agnostic, it can deploy edge infrastructure that runs on any hardware, any operating system, and connects to any cloud.

Pixeom addresses one of the most challenging issues facing today’s enterprises – distributed edge deployment at scale. IT Administrators can’t be sent out to thousands or millions of locations in a cost effective and timely manner. Only software and automation can address this problem, and Pixeom has done it in a way that makes the migration from cloud to edge completely seamless.

With Pixeom, existing cloud-native applications don’t need to be re-architected for it to run on the edge. Once deployed, the company offers a growing number of “edge versions” of popular cloud services such as machine learning or stream processing that have been recreated to match the APIs on-premise.

Who is the CEO/ founder?
