We recently learned of the success of Aston Business School MBA grad, Geoff Guerrin who received two remarkable work promotions during his time on the School's Part-time MBA.
Geoff Geurin joined Aston Business School’s in 2009 and graduated in February 2012. In the video below, Geoff shares his story and his experience of the Aston MBA.
The BA Marketing-holder from Nottingham Trent University joined BHSF’s graduate trainee scheme right out of school in 2006 and has been working his way up.
He convinced his company BHSF, a not-for-profit health insurer based in Birmingham, UK to fund his place on the Aston MBA and started to reap the benefits of the programme soon afterwards.
Within six months of starting the Aston MBA, Geoff was promoted to Assistant Manager and then promoted again, this time to Head of Business Improvement at BHSF. He has progressed quickly to the senior management team at BHSF and is the younger person ever to do this at the company.
“I’ve progressed quicker within the company in the time I’ve been doing my MBA that I would have done otherwise”, he says. The Aston MBA has made him more confident and given an edge to his day to day work.
In the video, he describes the Aston MBA as a “springboard” for moving from a current position to the next one, and a credible way of demonstrating to people that you do want to succeed and to go further.
Geoff’s success puts into perspective the statement of Aston Business School MBA Director Brigette Nicolaud. A clear benefit of the MBA as a qualification is that it is a very bankable qualification, she says. All businesses around the world know what it is.
Aston MBA is one of the few triple accredited mbas in the world, and was one of the first schools to offer distance learning MBA. It tries to focus on the social role of of business and has compulsory modules in leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship and business ethics.
