There are several factors that make companies desirable. Prestige, earning potential, progression opportunities, and workplace culture are all important considerations when deciding which companies you’d prefer to work for. 

Which of these factors you feel are most important can vary from person to person. B-school grads who target big name investment banks such as Goldman Sachs or Morgan Stanley may prioritize prestige, likewise consulting aspirants may feel salaries are the most important element in their decision. 

Today, more than 40% of job seekers list culture among their most important factors when considering their next employer. So, where can you find the best company culture? 

Each year, employee review platform Comparably compiles a list of the companies with the best workplace environment, based on anonymous employee feedback. Ranging from tech firms like Hubspot to consultancies like the Boston Consulting Group, each of the companies is home to more than 500 employees. 

Here are the companies with the best workplace culture. 


Best Company Culture: Top 20 


20. Hubspot 

A tech company operating in the customer relationship management space, Hubspot has more than 6000 employees. It was founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 2006 and has since gone on to open locations across the globe. 

According to Comparably, more than 2200 employees participated in rating the company, helping establish the firm as one of the best for company culture. 


19. Concentrix 

Concentrix is a leading customer experience technology firm. Founded in 1983, today the firm has more than 440,000 employees. They tend to speak favorably of the firm: chief executive officer Chris Caldwell ranks among the top 5% of CEOs, according to Comparably, while Concentrix ranks 19th in this list of the best company cultures.  


18. Topgolf

Home to 26,000 employees worldwide, Topgolf is a leader in tech-driven golf play. More than 500 employees gave their opinion on the firm to Comparably, securing it a place on this list. 


17. TaskUs

Taskus is the fastest growing company worldwide when it comes to business process outsourcing. The firm operates in a range of data and technology-led verticals, including content security and artificial intelligence operations. 

More than 9,000 Taskus employees provided feedback for Comparably. They rated CEO Bryan Maddock among the top 5%, and ensured the company gained a top 20 ranking among the best company cultures.

16. AT&T

A multinational tech and telecommunications firm with a history that dates back to the 1800s, AT&T is a leading technology company headquartered in the US. 

As such a large and storied firm, it’s impressive that AT&T manages to maintain a strong workplace environmet. Among the more than 500 employees who provided reviews, 92% were positive. AT&T therefore ranks 16th in this list of the companies with the best workplace culture. 


15. RingCentral

Another technology company to feature in this list, RingCentral is a cloud communications platform that provides solutions across a range of areas, including sending and receiving texts or calls across multiple devices. More than 2,000 RingCentral employees listed the firm as having one of the best workplace cultures. 


14. Trustwave

Trustwave operates within cybersecurity and managed security services. One of the smaller firms on this list, which perhaps contributes to its strong culture, Trustwave has around 1,000 employees. A total of 165 of those employees participated in the Comparably list, helping it nail down 14th spot among the best company cultures worldwide. 


13. Informatica

A software development firm headquartered in the US, Informatica was founded in the early 90s and now offers a range of services including cloud data management and data integration. 

Staff at informatica are 94% positive when it comes to Comparably reviews of the workplace culture. In total, 615 of the 6,000+ employees provided their feedback 


12. Calix

Calix is a firm that specializes in cloud computing and providing systems services to communications service providers. Like several of the companies featured within this list, Calix focuses on data-led solutions. 

Staff at the firm are almost entirely positive in their feedback. Among 965 employees participating in Comparably reviews, just 2% were negative.

11. Elsevier

Dutch firm Elsevier describes itself as an information analytics business. Operating within the healthcare sector, Elsevier was founded in 1880 and has built up an authoritative reputation primarily through its publications that include The Lancet, a world-renowned academic journal. 

Elsevier has more than 8,000 employees, 2,314 of whom provided their feedback regarding company culture to Comparably, helping it take 11th place in the list. 


10. Palo Alto Networks

Another cybersecurity specialist within this best company culture ranking, Palo Alto Networks is headquartered in California, producing advanced firewalls and utilizes cloud technology. 

Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora ranks among the top 5% of executives, while 93% of the 1,173 staff who provided their feedback to Comparably gave the company a positive review. 


9. Netflix 

A household name and a long time leading streaming service, Netflix is also a company that’s renowned for its workplace culture. Home to more than 12,000 employees, in total 467 participated in providing Comparably with their insights. 

They highlighted the strong compensation packages, collaborative environment, and freedom that employees benefit from while working. 


8. Proofpoint

Proofpoint is a cybersecurity firm based in California. Founded in 2002, it produces cloud-based solutions for both individuals and organizations. 

The firm has more than 3,000 employees. Among the 484 who shared feedback with Comparably, a huge 97% of reviews were positive. Staff highlighted the caring and collegiate nature of the organization, building a positive culture that earns Proofpoint a place on this list. 


7. ADP

Another software firm, this time specializing in human resources management solutions, ADP (Automatic Data Processing) is based in New Jersey. It specializes in payroll and other HR-related services. 

More than 1,300 ADP staff reviewed the company, highlighting the transparent workplace environment that involves exposure to all levels of the firm and positive communication throughout. In total, 92% of Comparably reviews of the firm were positive.  


6. Workday

Marginally ahead of ADP in this list of the firms with the best company culture is Workday, a company that specializes in human capital management as well as financial planning and spend management. The platform operates using cloud-based software. 

Headquartered in California and home to more than 17,000 employees, Workday is reviewed positively by 95% of employees. They cite factors such as strong work-life balance, competitive compensation, and a positive interview process.

5. Uber

Another household name that appears on this list, Uber has a strong workplace culture that earns it a top five spot. A technology company that has gone beyond ride hailing to offer other services including food delivery, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi is ranked among the top 5% of executives. 

The firm received 789 reviews, 94% of which were positive, highlighting the firm's inclusive environment and mission-driven approach to work. 


4. Toast

Toast is one of the smaller firms on this list, with around 3,000 employees primarily based in the company’s headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts. A software company that offers cloud-based solutions within restaurant management, Toast has one of the best company cultures, according to Comparably.

In total, 332 employees participated in providing their company insights. An overwhelming 91% of reviews were positive, highlighting elements including the leadership team and supportive atmosphere. 


Best Company Culture: Top 3


3. Boston Consulting Group

Significantly larger than many of the tech startups within this list, Boston Consulting Group (BCG) is the only representative of the Big Three management consulting firms to rank among the best places for company culture, according to Comparably. 

BCG CEO Christoph Schweizer ranks among the top 5% of executives, while staff are largely positive in their reviews of the workplace culture. Particular factors cited by employees include strong health benefits, consistent growth opportunities, and the opportunity to work on exciting and diverse projects. 


2. Instacart

Ranking second in this list, Instacart is the top grocery tech company in the US. With over 3,000 employees, it’s another of the smaller firms on this list. The company was founded in 2012 and offers grocery and delivery pick up services nationwide. 

Among the 283 employees who reviewed the firm, 94% gave positive responses. They cited reasons such as the customer-centric approach, open culture, and opportunity to solve problems within small teams. 


1. Adobe 

According to Comparably, Adobe is the firm with the best company culture. A large tech company headquartered in San Jose, California, Adobe has existed since 1982. It offers a wide range of products to support creativity and publication of content, including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. 

Home to more than 29,000 employees, Adobe is ranked as 96% positive by more than 1000 staff who gave their insights to Comparably. Key points that help Adobe earn the top spot for workplace environment include a 'work hard and have fun' culture, and a strong company vision that’s backed up by a transparent approach to leadership.
